Introduction
The Iraqi society of occupational health and safety was established in 1991. Licensed by the Iraqi government / Ministry of Higher Education in accordance to law No 55:1981, the society is neither political nor profitable. In this context, the society is financially independent and self sustainable.
Mission Statement
The Iraqi society of Occupational health and safety is a scientific society (NGO) and its members are a group of specialists and interested citizens in public safety and occupational health. The society aims to protect human and material resources from accidents injuries and environmental pollution with special regard to work environment.
Supervision
All activities conducted by ISOHS are supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education. Approval of the Ministry is sometimes required (elections, change of bylaws….)….
Structure of Society
All members of society (about 713 members) are either having an academic degree in occupational health and safety or active in issues related to safety or occupational health…..
Impartiality and independence Policy
The Iraqi Society of Occupational Health and Safety (ISOHS) acknowledges its societal responsibility to lead by example in all aspects related to Health, Safety and Environment. Performing impartial third part inspection of equipment is in alignment with this responsibility in a major way. ISOHS by acting as an inspection body of equipment manifests its vision through contribution to public safety in the course of executing inspection activities, allocation of potential defects and inconsistences and demanding corrective action from employers, ultimately leading to enhancement of occupational and public safety. To this end, ISOHS adopted a management system based on pillars of impartiality, independence, and competence to provide high quality inspection services.
